Holmes Wood is a leading design company specialising in the creation of beautiful and effective design solutions that help people navigate and experience the world around them. Blending aesthetics and function, our multi-disciplinary team of designers combines unique expertise to produce award-winning wayfinding, graphics, placemaking, information design, exhibition design, branded environments, print design and motion graphics, to name but a few. Taking into consideration both the bigger picture and the granular detail, the team combines creative flair with commercial knowhow to achieve maximum impact for clients. 

As a key senior member of our growing interdisciplinary studio and part of the Leadership team, you’ll be a highly creative and experienced graphic and infographic-focused Associate Director with particular strength in typography and graphic design in the built environment. Experience in information graphics, print and branding is also required.

You will have leadership skills, motivating and inspiring the teams to create the best possible work. You have strong communication skills and the confidence to both present ideas and assist in driving all stages of the creative process, from ideation, to production and implementation both internally and externally to clients.


Key responsibilities

  • Provide a creative, effective and innovative leading role in the design team for a variety of clients and projects with a particular strength in infographic design for wayfinding projects alongside brand and print projects.
  • Present Holmes Wood work at events, seminars, lectures etc to promote our work and its uniqueness.
  • Participate and lead as required in brainstorming/design sprints for projects, conduct any relevant research, add insight and value, and lead in achieving studio and project goals.
  • Dissect and comprehend any particular project brief and disseminate to the team.
  • Generate and lead teams from design concepts through to final design with the support from the senior associate director. 
  • Be responsible for accomplishing and maintaining the quality of design throughout all phases of the project showing complete attention to detail, ensuring information is complete, accurate and of the highest quality. 
  • Attend and lead in as required any meetings/presentations, providing articulate and effective presentations – visual, written and spoken.
  • Build and maintain client relationships, managing expectations.
  • Help ensure all projects are delivered to the agreed programme and budgets with the required level of information for any particular design stage.
  • Assist in managing the workloads of the creative teams to ensure the effective delivery of any particular project.
  • Deliver work according to an agreed timescale and be able to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ensure all records and files relating to the design work on any particular project are maintained by the team.
  • Assist in the development of more junior members of the team.
  • Assist in new business development
