Purpose of the position

The Division Controller will report directly to the Head of FP&A and Controlling and play a critical role in driving the goals and profitability of the company. The Division Controller will partner with the Business, various Leadership Team members and organization Heads of Functions within a Division of Wizz Air, and is expected to act as their business partner and advisor in all financial matters. The Division Controller will work closely with the Divisional departments to build the annual budget, update the weekly and monthly rolling forecasts, contribute to the monthly accounting close process, and develop KPI’s to more effectively monitor and manage the business. The Division Controller supports the Business in performance and accountability meetings with senior management. The Division Controller is also expected to be an agent of change and constantly look for ways to improve processes and the cost structure of the Division and the larger organization. The Division Controller must be an effective communicator and is responsible for raising issues to the Leadership Team members and organization Heads of Functions. The Divisional Controller will be asked to function as back up to the Financial Planning Manager. This role is tasked mainly with consolidating the input from the various Divisional Controllers into a weekly and monthly rolling forecast and annual budget/3-Year plan, preparing periodic performance management decks to senior management and Board of Directors and providing ad-hoc analysis on a wide range of financial matters. 

Responsibilities

  • Promote the Wizz Air ultra-low cost values throughout the company
  • Develop the organization annual budget and 3-Year plan
  • Update the weekly forecast and ensure on time and accurate reporting for the Division
  • Work with the Leadership Team and Heads of Functions within the Division to improve the speed, accuracy, and reporting of the annual budget and weekly forecast process
  • Complete the accruals and review account level detail during the monthly accounting close process
  • Perform variance analysis on the month-end close and forecast numbers, build cost review presentations, and present trends and analysis to management
  • Develop KPI’s and dashboards to more effectively monitor and manage the business
  • Identify, track, and drive cost savings initiatives throughout the company
  • Conduct ad hoc analysis, projects and reports to support the Head of Financial Planning & Controlling, the CFO and wider Leadership Team and operating groups
  • Function as back-up to the Financial Planning Manager

Requirements

  • University degree in economics/econometrics or operations research/applied mathematics with finance in the curriculum is required
  • 4 to 8 years of experience in financial/business controlling is required, with preferably exposure in financial planning & analysis and/or business consulting
  • Excellent skills in MS Excel and MS Office tools required
  • Background and understanding airline operations in general is an advantage
  • Hard working attitude
  • Strong analytical skills Willingness to dive into the details
  • Able to step forward and communicate the message; outgoing
  • Quick in understanding complex systems
  • Knowledge of and user experience with Business Intelligence solutions (e.g. MS PowerBI, Qlikview,Tibco Spotfire)
  • Knowledge of and user experience with programming in SQL and MS SQL server preferred
  • Experience with datamart and datawarehouse solutions and architecture
