OMA’s Communications team located in New York is responsible for worldwide external communications, press liaison, publications and exhibitions, events and lectures, marketing material, the web presence and the OMA archive collection.

As the Communications Director, you will take the lead in Public Relations efforts from the New York office. Your role will involve support for both public projects and private requests. In addition, you will take the lead in selecting the right instruments to achieve the company’s communications goals and actively take part of communications related discussions.

Furthermore, you will be responsible for managing the Communications department on a day-to-day basis, organize the workflow and oversee the workforce. You will report to the Partners in New York office.


In this position, you will:

  • Coordinate the implementation of an overall communications strategies that support the business development strategic goals of OMA; 
  • Identify opportunities within the organization and translate them into communications and communication plans, placing OMA’s work in a broader, political context;
  • Identify and initiate external opportunities to support the strategic goals of OMA;



  • 10+ years of experience in a similar role, preferably in internationally reputable firms;
  • MA/BA Degree in International Business, Design, Communications or equivalent;
  • Relevant experience in public relations and/or public affairs in the creative industry or cultural sector is an asset;
  • Understanding of architecture and master planning and/or art & design world is strongly recommended;
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills;
  • Mature personality with excellent managerial skills;
  • Self-disciplined and confident in a complex environment;
  • Hands-on approach;
  • Fluent in English (preferably native). Full professional proficiency in another language, such as Japanese, Spanish and French, is a plus;
  • Willing to travel for work;


Further qualifications:

  • Good understanding of the economic and political environments OMA is working in;
  • Affinity with Architecture and Art
  • Proficiency in MS Office and Adobe Creative Suite (with strong InDesign experience);
  • Knowledge of HTML, Flash, Dreamweaver and Fireworks is a plus
  • Valid work permit in the States is preferred.
