We've got a great opportunity for a Site Engineering Manager to join the team at our Manufacturing site in Worsley, Manchester. This role sits on the Site Senior Team and reports to the Site Manager. You will have full engineering responsibility for the site and will work closely with the Engineering team, Site Operations Manager, Production Teams and the Planning Team to manage and optimise the site asset care strategy. This role is pivotal to the sites success and you will engage widely across all areas of the Morrisons business to help the site develop and grow.

Worsley is a fast paced 24/7 site, working a continuous 4 shift system, producing a range of short shelf life prepared vegetable and carbohydrate products such as Stir Fry packs, Roasting Veg Packs and Prepared ingredients for salad bars and cafes. The site is a chilled manufacturing site with an operating temperature of 5 degrees celcius. We also grow our own beansprouts at our 2nd facility a few miles away from the main site.

Here at Morrisons our Site Engineering Managers do the following;

  • Creating and sustaining a safe operating environment in the interaction between equipment and people across the site
  • Ensuring assets are ready to produce products that are of an excellent quality, despatched on time in full to our customers
  • Delivering a robust Asset Care improvement plan, ensuring strong collaboration and engagement across all departments.
  • Acting with integrity to build a professional engineering culture focussed on proactive equipment improvement
  • Delivering in-year and longer term engineering budget, ensuring best possible asset life cycle costs and value for money.
  • Taking the role of Site Engineering Duty Holder – ensuring that all legal compliance accountabilities are met
  • Developing and influencing the wider Engineering strategy alongside the network of Site Engineering Managers and Central Engineering function based at our 16 other Manufacturing sites

What do I need to be a successful Site Engineering Manager?

  • The ideal candidate will ideally be of graduate calibre or equivalent with proven experience of developing and leading a strong performing engineering function.
  • Previous experience working in Manufacturing/FMCG or a similar fast paced, commercially focused environment is essential.
  • Change management experience and a professional understanding of implementing continuous improvement techniques along with great decision making skills will be seen as a huge benefit in your application.
  • A strong ability to challenge, influence and motivate at all levels.
  • Excellent communication skills and a proven track record of coaching, motivating and engaging a team: demonstrating assertiveness and decision making skills and have a can do attitude to your work.
