Description

System Engineering Apprentice 2019, Bristol

The Opportunity

To join our Systems engineering team in Bristol whilst studying part-time for a fully funded Digital and Technology Solutions degree at Weston College. You will join a diverse group of engineers, developing Communication, Command & Control components for complex weapon systems.

What you will be doing

The Degree Apprenticeship consists of a combination of on-the-job technical training and time studying a Digital and Technology Solutions Degree.

As a Systems engineer, you will be responsible for the requirement definition, design evolution, qualification and project management of major components, and as such work closely with numerous technical and non-technical domains across the business and other companies. You will provide systems engineering to each of the stages of the product development life-cycle ranging from understanding the required system behaviours from a variety of viewpoints, system design and specification, through to integration, test, and analysis of achieved system performance.

Delivering Communication and Command & Control products requires innovative architecture, technology development, understanding of networks, integration and Cyber security and a strong, joint Systems-Software approach, therefore having a solid foundation in software engineering and/or Cyber Security provides an advantageous skillset for a Systems engineer.

You will also be given the opportunity to experience work placements in other teams with different specialisms, to further enhance your development and give a wider view of other departments within the company.

As well as challenging placements you will have the opportunity to undertake developmental training:
